If you are looking for static insurance for your caravan then there are many things that you should take into account. What you get for your money by way of benefits could vary greatly along with some features that should come as standard.

You should check to find out if the provider includes new for old in your policy. This means that if you were to lose belongings through theft or they were destroyed then they would be replaced as new for old. You would have to take an inventory of all the items and belongings and this would be the amount that you insure for and is the sum you get back.

You might also want to find out if would get replacement locks through your static insurance cover if you were to become a victim of theft and the keys to your caravan were stolen. Some insurance providers will include this as standard in the insurance while others could ask that you add this in as an extra.

Take a look in the small print to find out if you would be able to claim on the insurance cover in the case of accidental damage. This could include such as fittings, glass on TV screens and computer equipment. Accidental damage could be included but with some providers you could have to add this in as an extra.

There are many ways that you can make savings on your caravan insurance and one of them is to offer to increase the amount of excess that you have to pay in the event you should make a claim on the policy. There will always be a minimum amount that you need to put towards a claim but you could pay as much as you wanted above this to help keep down the cost of your insurance. Bear in mind though that you need to find this amount in a lump sum should a claim have to be made and give some thought to the fact that if you were to have to claim more than once in the same year then you could very well lose out on any savings you have made.

Where you site your static caravan can also make a huge difference to the amount that you would have to pay for the static insurance premiums each month. If you put your caravan on a site that has 24 hour security which could include video cameras and fencing then it would be seen as being safer. There are many things that you could do to help For instance if you were to buy and install a good a quality alarm system in your static caravan you can keep down the cost of the premiums for your insurance. Insurance websites will usually give you some advice on which security devices can lead to savings on their insurance so check them out.
